Let it go

 Love T.K.O- Teddy Pendergrass

An oldie, but goodie. I remember my mom, aunts/uncles always playing this song growing up. I hated it. I thought it was so depressing and just downright bad. So funny how life can change your mind. I now think it's one of the most beautiful songs. Now that I'm older and lived/loved. this song has an entirely different meaning. "Tried to take control of the love, love took control of me 'Cause you lose all thoughts, sense of time, And have a change of mind. " I think back on so many times this line resonated with me.

Hold My Arm Up

Transformer- Future ft. Nicki Hendrix

I first heard this song driving back from one of my random nights out. I remember having to pull over to fully encapsulate the lyrics. Future and NM are two of the most prolific writers out,  and I always respect their penmanship.  Nick stole the entire song with her verse. I also cannot wait to light up the room just by holding up my arm.

French Bears

Meme Langue- Bearcubs

A classic upbeat French mix with a 90s dance twist. I discovered this gem. I discovered this song while I was shopping in the mall a few years ago. Half the song is in French and the other half in English. I know the lyrics to half the song I guess.  Bearcubs is an Artist from Berlin, I describe his music style as somewhat euphoric and melodramatic vocals. A winning combo!

White Savior

 Tonight, Tonight- Smashing Pumpkins

I remember hearing this song on some 90s tv show and thought nothing of it. Until my coworker started playing it. which also led us to seeing them in concert once. Whenever I think of this song, I either text it to him, or as I would call him, my white emotional support friend, which he loved lol. We came from vastly different backgrounds, but there was always a mutual understanding between us. He came from the world of finance and really helped me understand the financial side of things within our careers. All from him stress playing this song at work. good times.

A Beautiful Loss

Where you Belong- Little Dragon

This song came out the same time my aunt passed two years ago. The lyrics were so on point, and the meaning is about death/losing, someone. I play this song often when I want to think of her. I can't play it too much without choking up honestly.

Toothy

Gold Teeth- Blood Orange ft. Gangsta Boo, Project Pat, and Tinashe.

This song represents the vastness of Black culture and music. As an alt-Black person, I always appreciated the "alternative-style" Black artists, and it's now the new wave. This song has Blood Orange, Gangsta Boo, Tinashe, and Project Pat. who are all very "different" Black artists but made this masterpiece. I always found a connection to this song. it reminds me of listening to project pat with my brother on our way back from high school. Plus, I always wanted a gold tooth.

Welcome!

Welcome, all!

Welcome to the Tales and Tunez music blog! A blog I started to share my extensive music collection, new music, and classic tales of my love for music.

Music is always around me. Whatever the situation, or experience, I can specifically recall the song that was playing to remark the memory. My personal music collection consists of about 1,500 songs collected from over 15 years ago when I was a teenager. Discovering and "cataloging" new music became my secret hobby for years. Looking back, I was always a musically inclined kid. I took guitar lessons for a bit, easily understand drum patterns, and even sang in the church choir...well forced into... it but, nonetheless, I appreciated every moment of all my experiences within the world of music.

As a melophile, I have music from just about every genre. I do have my default genres, but a good song is a good song, regardless of genre or type. My top 4 genres are Alternative/Indie, Hip-Hop, Classic Soul, and EDM.

I always brag that I can pick a random song from my collection, and instantly share an experience. I decided to challenge myself and share songs from my personal collection to 1. Show off my varying music collection. I have songs from just about every genre. 2. As a tool for creative expression. I think it's important to stay sharp and to have a creative outlet that helps me deal with stress and the mundanity of life.

So stay tuned and be on the lookout for new postings 😎
